Having considered the believer's entrance into union with Christ, and then the nature of the union itself – all of which is known only by revelation in the word of God – we have examined the believer's responsibility. Since we have already been united to Christ if we are genuine Christians, we are told by Jesus Himself that we must “abide in Him.” He gave this to His original disciples in the form of an allegory of the vine and the branches, John 15:4. Having spent many sessions on the theme of the believer's union with Christ, we now have been focusing our attention upon the believer's communion with Christ and its necessary corollaries. We have examined the inward means appointed by God for communion with Christ. This message continues the examination of the outward means appointed by God for communing with Christ. God's great purpose for the Christian is for Man to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
