The Love of God and Assurance of Salvation

How can we know that we are truly saved? What is the basis for a solid assurance of salvation? The simple answer, provided in our text, is love. If the love that has always existed between the members of the Trinity is in you, and if you abide in that love, you will have confidence in the day of judgment. If that love is in you, you will love the very things God loves, and this will assure your heart. We need to meditate on this love. Because of our failures, we often forget the love that God has for us, and this dampens our assurance.
