Conversion: Ethiopian Eunuch

Conversion to Christ involves more than one person. Philip was sent to evangelise the Ethiopian eunuch. That was surprising in view of how much Philip was needed in Samaria. The story shows how trusting obedience brings great rewards. Philip preached Jesus to him - not ethics or experience, for faith in Christ comes first. The Ethiopian was only aware of Jesus as Philip explained the scriptures, he could not see that the Spirit was coordinating events. That reminds us that we should set aside our questions about election and just focus on Jesus - conversion is receiving him. The Ethiopian's request for baptism showed great changes had taken place. The last we see of him is expressing his joy as he disappears in a dust cloud, but his testimony led to the Coptic Church being formed. God honours the obedience of faith and many people may be saved as a result of it.
