Parable of the Wheat & Tares

In the Apostle Paul’s day, false teachers were appearing in churches claiming to preach the good news of the gospel. These pretenders appeared as missionaries, pastors, evangelists and church members. At first they appeared to be true believers; but as time went on, their spiritual fruit, or better, their lack of genuine spiritual fruit began to show. Maybe it was in their words or deeds, but eventually the fruit of their false relationship manifested itself. This should cause great concern. Think of the harm a false believer can cause within the church assembly. They can sow discord. They can sow lies. They can sow false teaching. They can hinder the work of God. Such is the work of Satan and his army of false believers. In this parable of the wheat and tares, Jesus warns that Satan’s army of pretenders will infiltrate the church.
