The Holy Spirit Prays for You

Paul, lamenting his struggle with sin in Romans 7, shows us that the key to overcoming sin is the work of the Spirit. "Walking in the Spirit" is our day-by-day living with a spiritual mindset that changes our heart, actions, and attitudes. We desire to do this because of the hope of glory to come, which the Spirit seals to us. Paul now comes to his second main point, how the Spirit helps us to overcome our sin. Here, Paul shows that the Spirit is constantly doing the work of interceding for us, praying for us. While our prayers for ourselves are often confused or based on ignorance, the Spirit has no such shortcoming. Our hope, then, of overcoming sin is based on the Spirit's intercession for us.
