What's In It For Us?

When Peter and the other disciples observed the sadness of the rich young ruler after Christ had urged him to surrender his riches, they thought that they had already taken such a step. Peter argued that they had left all to follow Christ. He and the others wondered what they were going to receive as a result. Still taken up with the interest in self and this world, they did not yet have the sense to appreciate the spiritual scope of the glory that awaits for the people of Christ in the day that the Lord Jesus called the regeneration. The Lord's answer underlined the truth that His people need to be concerned more with the advancement of the Savior's glory than with what they are going to have for their service.
