The Greater Sabbath

There is no rest to be found in meticulous obedience to man-made interpretations of God's law. True rest is found only in Christ, who is Lord over all things, including whatever we hold most sacred, and friends if Christ is not who and what we hold most sacred, then we will never find true rest. His disciples could pluck grain and eat on the Sabbath day because they were with the true Sabbath. The disabled man could see his withered hand renewed and restored on the Sabbath day because he encountered the true Sabbath that renews and restores. Jesus is the true Sabbath rest for those tired of trying to earn their own righteousness and who finally acknowledge that it's a task they can never accomplish, and my message to you this morning is not do better, or do more, but stop doing and start resting.
