Good tidings of great joy

Luke 2 reminds us that the gospel is a message of great joy, for in it we the God declares peace to sinful men - "Peace on earth and goodwill toward men". In this text we see how the Son of God was born into an estate of humiliation, "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9).
