The Hellish Sin of Discontent

Our text is the final of God's commandments to Israel. It forbids discontent by God's people on any issue; we are not to complain at any lack in our own life, nor are we to be jealous about God's blessings on others. Whatever commandments one may keep, to rebel against this final charge is to fail before God as guilty. The carnal heart is distempered against God's wisdom and purpose in His supply to all humanity. Sin in its own nature is pure mercy. Discontentment is purposed to make us covet against God's will.
