The Question of Body, Spirit, and Soul

700

Question about body, spirit, and soul was brought up last week.

Ecclesiastes 3:18-21
18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; (we all die sometime) yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. (Solomon says, if you people think you're better than a beast, look around and see. Rule of Intrepie – disintegration. Everything that is in the world is in a state of disintegration.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. (Catholics rub their forehead with ashes, and they believe you are dust and to dust you shall return)
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? The word spirit is translated many different ways in English, so how can we really know what its talking about? Context of scripture, that's how. Soul and spirit are not the same thing. Spirit is what God gives you; Soul is life. Our spirit continues to live after death. The soul dies, or goes downwards. Animals do not have a spirit, so they turn back into dust, and that's it. Human beings are created in His image, and animals are not. They just go back to the earth.
