Heb # 23 A High Priest by an Oath Heb 7 vs 18-28

  1. The superiority and sufficiency of Christ is the matter of salvation and the teaching of the book of Hebrews.

  2. Christ saves because He is a High Priest of a higher and different order than that of the Law.

  3. His Priesthood is by an oath-unlike that of the Priesthood of the Law which was just by bloodline.

  4. And that is significant in salvation because it means the salvation that Christ mediates cannot change, cannot be lost because He ever lives to make intercession.

  5. Christ is better than the Priesthood of the Law because by His one offering He made an end to the purification of sin.

  6. And that means the death of Christ, which was the offering of Himself accomplished all that was required of the sinner to sanctified and justified before God. Christ is alone the surety of the New Covenant and this is the better hope that has been introduced to the sinner by which they can draw near to God without fear of being rejected or condemned.

  7. To go back to the Law for sanctification is an attempt to deny the sufficiency of Christ and it is unbelief. That and more and it is free!
