Glimpses of Hell

God declares the Babylon, representing the world in opposition to God, is fall. The passage tells us that regarding the destiny of Babylon,

1. The End is certain - certainty is apparent from the tense of the verbs, the divine pronouncement, and the fact that the wages of sin is death
2. The Punishment is just - the sins of the world cry out to God who will judge justly and righteously
3. The Fall will be Lamented - men from all walks of life would grieve deeply to see the suffering of sinners on the last day
4. The Devastation is Complete - terrifying glimpses of life are given in the latter part of the chapter
