Astonishing Doctrine

When the Lord Jesus Christ finished His 'sermon on the mount', the people were 'astonished' . . . they were shocked at what they had heard. They had never heard such preaching. They said, 'He preaches as one having authority . . . not as the scribes.'
He preached like Who He is . . . the Author of the Book, the Author and finisher; the Authority on every subject . . . as the only Way, Truth and Life. His preaching was to the heart, not to the head or over the head as 'the scribes' (both then and now).
His Word, His preaching was and is with all power . . . able to break the hardest heart and convince, change, overpower the most obstinate mind.
