Brethren: The Real Church
Series The Names of the Christian
86
In the modern era the language of family was changed so that experts could reach in our homes and claim authority to impose their philosophies on this sacred unit. That reach has not only changed families but also the church. The church is above everything else the family of God and does not rise to its exalted place of moral authority in the world unless it is understood in just that way. Jesus pays tribute to the family. Jesus pays greater importance to the family of God and therefore places our immediate families in their proper place. Jesus places himself at the center of God's family. It is this identity of the Church as God's family that should inform everything we are and do in our fellowships.
