All but Jesus Torn Away

69

It is admittedly difficult to tell the difference between a glass of coke and a glass of soy sauce from a distance. So Jesus shows that from the outside, it is so easy to mistake fake Christianity for true Christianity. All true Christianity can do, on the inside, is to throw itself on the mercy of God through Christ. All fake Christianity can do is present to God personal performance. The real thing is about Jesus and faith in Him. You cannot be a Christian if you don't understand this. Christian dependence and adoration of Christ means that nothing else must matter more in your life than Jesus Christ. You are going to have to hand over your idols. You're going to have to start living for something greater. He is the final deciding factor in your life. Jesus is not like modern politicians, who promise their followers exactly what they want in order to be elected. Jesus is not begging for your vote and promising to do for you what you want. No. he is a King coming to reign and you owe Him your allegiance. Jesus is a warrior King who rescues you, a prisoner of war. Your life is in His hands. Jesus asks whether you are ready to pay such a price. Secondly, are you ready to pay the price of not following Jesus? The answer is not. You can't do it. That should bring you to desperation before Jesus. If this is how Christianity is understood, are you a Christian?
