Dealing With Sin

Is the Lord really calling for self mutilation when He says - 'If thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out' and 'if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off.' The general belief is not that the Lord is calling for self mutilation but that he's using exaggeration to emphasize the truth that sin needs to be dealt with seriously. The Lord Himself would certainly deal with sin seriously when He would without exaggeration have nails driven into His hands and feet! In this study we analyze why the Lord is using such harsh language when it comes to dealing with sin.
