The Sign of God's Sanctifying Grace

I. Six days you shall labor.

A. God ordained that you should work; it's a creation ordinance.

B. To neglect work is to call for God's wrath on yourself.

C. God intends for you to be industrious.

II. Look toward your eternal rest by God's grace.

A. The Sabbath rest teaches you that salvation is by God's grace.

B. The Sabbath rest teaches you to look toward your eternal rest.

III. Sanctify the Sabbath for your sanctification. [Exodus 31:13]

A. The Sabbath commandment remains for us; but the order is altered.

B. The Sabbath rest sets before you the whole of Christ's saving work.

C. As it is a sign, so it also sanctifies you in its proper observance.
