The Wages of Sin

20

Sin pays a wage. The wages of sin are many wages, momentary wages, mortal wages, and immortal wages. However, when it comes to the immortal wages of sin, understand these wages keep paying eternally, everlastingly and forever. But though there are different degrees of sin, the consequences of sin are all the same. Every sin, every isolated act of rebellion, leads to eternal condemnation and eternal death (Romans 6:23). Adrian Rogers once said, "Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you're willing to pay." For a few moments, I want us to think about and meditate on the wages of sin. Another word for wages is consequences. There is no way we can exhaust the meaning of the wages or the consequences of sin. What I want us to examine closely this morning are five primary wages or consequences of sin.
