Wise parents will be a great boon to their kids. Not just rich parents – some rich parents are the worst of parents because they foolishly spoil their children. They raise pompous wasters who have no skills of discipline and none of the common sense of life.
It may start in Kindergarten with little Bobby who can do no wrong and the teacher is told that he needs no correction. This would all fly in the face of the book of Proverbs.
It may be a totally undisciplined home with a dishevelled life which wastes formative years so that tender plants of youth grow up into shapeless oaks. Big oaks which are shapeless are nigh impossible to straighten out. Wisdom says, while the stem is soft train it now. But in human hearts there are many young people who resist that training and would fly in the face of good and godly parents as they run their own way. This sermon calls young people to submit to the instruction of godly parents.
