Grace Building on Youth
136
We must emphasise that it was grace which worked in the life of Paul. He never claimed his own gifts, nor his own accomplishments. He gave God the glory for who he was and what he was and for what God had done through his life. Paul's statement “I am what I am by the grace of God” (1Cor. 15:10) has to stand out in our minds as we ponder over this life of Paul. Paul renounced his fleshly heritage as a benefit for salvation.
However, Paul built on his earthly standing for Christian Service. God's grace took that raw material, the practical life of Saul of Tarsus and made him a model of God's transforming grace.
In this sermon we see how through the gospel God transforms the raw material of sinful men and uses it for His glory.
