God's Way of Saving Souls

108

A serious perception exists that Reformed Christians are less concerned about souls, about salvation, about seeking the lost, than they are about their own doctrines. But an inquiring review of history reveals that a passion for souls has been a dominating influence in the lives of our most revered Reformed thinkers and theologians. The Apostles, including Paul. were abundantly clear in their adherence to the Doctrines of Grace as set forth by the Reformers of later centuries.

Paul, in the remarkably short passage of our text, defines his role and overriding purpose in evangelization.

  1. His own identity - as free from all but slave to all.

  2. His strategy – to become like all, to reach all. Adapts self.

  3. His Purpose – to save some, without adapting the message.

We are confronted with three questions:

Paul, what are you doing?
To win the battle for their heart – make disciples

Paul, how are you doing this?
By meeting people where they really are at

Paul, why are you doing this?
To win sinners
